Danes are popularly known as the laid-back Viking descendants and the world’s happiest people. The country is a mixture of traditional and conservative rules when it comes to personal life and wildly liberal and democratic atmosphere as a whole. Learn, Share, Subscribe ------------------------------------------------ Watch the entire series here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbZJ71IJGFRTa_XMM9a4hDh2Yo9CsZzOR Follow: https://plus.google.com/+blinder00 https://twitter.com/Sebastian2Go https://www.facebook.com/official7facts https://www.facebook.com/official7facts ------------------------------------------------ In this brief video you can find seven little known facts about the Denmark. In fact it’s part of the Kingdom of Denmark (which also includes Greenland and the Faroe Islands) and it is one of the richest and most advanced nations of the world. Where is Denmark? It’s in Northern Europe and is part of the Scandinavian Nations. But if you see the Denmark map, you will also find a complicated mash of islands around the main peninsula. More information about the video content bellow: 1. Hot dogs in Danish are called sausage wagons, which is reason enough to make encased meat the first meal you taste in Denmark. The quality of the meat is exceptional, the snap of the griddled dog is almost audible as you bite down and the condiments put New York street vendors to shame. 2. Since its opening, Christiania has been famous for its open cannabis trade, taking place in the centrally located 'Pusher Street', named 'Green Light District' by the Christianian council. Although illegal, authorities were for many years reluctant to forcibly stop the hash trade. Proponents thought that concentrating the hash trade in one place would limit its dispersion in society, and that it could prevent users from switching to 'harder drugs'. 3. Live Action Role Playing (LARPing) can be found across the Kingdom. In weekends Danes take to countryside in full costume to play out complex scenarios ranging from multi-layered World War II reenactments to prisoner-guard acts that are more psychological experiments than relaxations. 4. Denmark’s a liberal place but also a nation of private people, so it’s not surprising that religion is off the menu when it comes to social talk. It’s either not a factor in people’s lives at all or it’s simply none of your business. Politics, ambition, religious views are better if you keep them to yourself. 5. The Danes love to cycle. Whether they’re in business suits or dresses and high heels, or with their children, when going to work or school, they’ll always use their bikes. In Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, 50% of the people commute by bike everyday and there are more bikes than inhabitants. 6. If you ever wondered why so many Danes have the same name its not by coincidence. You are only allowed to name your kids one of the pre-approved names for girls and boys. 7. Denmark has a +50% tax rate, but most studies show a close to 100% support to the Danish welfare system where they pay one of the highest tax rates in the world in exchange for free healthcare, free good schools, unemployment security, maternity leave. For instance: Universities in Denmark are 100% FREE to attend to; if you lose your job, the government will continue to pay 90% of your salary for up to 2 years; the average maternity leave is 52 weeks and is 100% paid for.
